AirAsia X has a permit from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate flights to the United States. Attaining permission from the FAA, AirAsia X became the first low cost airline in Asia that has permission to serve the civilian scheduled flights to the United States.
Permission opens the way for saving cost airlines that serve long-haul flights have to fly to destinations anywhere in the United States. Currently AirAsia X is considering to open a route to some states in the United States including Hawaii as part of its expansion plan.
Group CEO of AirAsia X, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said, This is a remarkable achievement for AirAsia X. Our expansion is still concentrated in Asia, Australasia and the Middle East, and we are very excited to enter into the market that is completely new, which further from the Asia Pacific region. "
"I believe that a traveler would respond well to our service that has won awards and connectivity that we offer through the Fly-Thru service. As part of its expansion plan, we are also considering to re-open the route to London and we are working to achieve the required permissions to operate the route, "he said.
He added that this achievement is not possible without the participation of all Allstar (AirAsia employees), especially the Group Chief Operating Officer, Anaz Ahmad Tajuddin who passed away two weeks ago.
